Question 4) Describe what is by 'Public Service Broadcasting' (PSB). Use the BBC as an example in your answer. Public Service Broadcasting is television and radio programmes that are broadcast to provide information, advice, or entertainment to the public without trying to to make a profit.  All BBC public service television channels are PSB channels, only the main channels of each of the other public service broadcasters have this status. Question 5) The Avengers - Explain how social contexts influence television programmes. Refer to The Avengers from 1965 to support your answer.  The singing 60s was the decade of free love so people acted differently. The Avengers showed free love as Mrs Peel was acting very flirtatious to her boss, John Steed. This was because in the 1960s having sex outside marriage was common, and most likely they weren't caught. This was also the era of the first conception pill for women so women couldn't have sex without getting pregnant....

DIRT Question 1 - Analyse how sound is used in the extract to create meaning. Refer to at least two examples from the extract in your answer Sound is used to create tension and suspense in this crime drama. Firstly, the use of diegetic sound of the first scene of the lawyer picking up the telephone, creating tension to the audience and lawyer as the non-diegetic sound of the music is sow and deep, and this creates tension to the audience. The ambient diegetic sound of the police radio calling for backup for assistance with a robbery creates a sense of tension for the police officers and audience as they have a sense of worry.
