The Town of No Return: 60s Essay

How was media language used to show the social context of the 1960s? Mise-en-scene is used throughout this extract to highlight the focus on the fashion, art and design in this era. This is shown in the clothing Mrs Peel is wearing in this scene, and the decor in her apartment. The eye outside her apartment shows the Pop Art era and how it has influenced our culture on the art scene. Mrs Peel's outfit is leather, which is showing off her body and this shows sexist attitudes as she was holding onto a sword as well. This shows that you can be sexy and independent as the 60s was a time of expressing free love, and that's how they have shown it through her choice of clothing. Camerawork is used throughout this extract to show the importance of the upper class. This is shown when John Steed is presented when we first see him. The camera angle used was a close up of the doorbell, then tilted to the eye to show 60s representation, then finally, a low angle shot of John Steed. T...

Serial TV Drama

L/O: To explore the TV drama genre and conventions  What's the difference between and TV Drama and a Soap Opera? Contains a series of real life situations which are exaggerated yet relatable, though the use of; themes, settings, issues, and narrative. Intended to be more serious than humorous. What is the difference between a TV Drama and a serial TV Drama? Serial TV is defined as any television drama that is  organised into a series of episodes (as opposed to one-off dramas). Typically, a series contains between 3 and 12 episodes. A serial has a continuing plot that unfolds in a sequential episode-by-episode fashion. Serials typically follow main story arcs that span an entire  season,  or even the full run of the series, which distinguishes them from traditional episodic television that relies on more stand-alone episodes.
