How was media language used to show the social context of the 1960s? Mise-en-scene is used throughout this extract to highlight the focus on the fashion, art and design in this era. This is shown in the clothing Mrs Peel is wearing in this scene, and the decor in her apartment. The eye outside her apartment shows the Pop Art era and how it has influenced our culture on the art scene. Mrs Peel's outfit is leather, which is showing off her body and this shows sexist attitudes as she was holding onto a sword as well. This shows that you can be sexy and independent as the 60s was a time of expressing free love, and that's how they have shown it through her choice of clothing. Camerawork is used throughout this extract to show the importance of the upper class. This is shown when John Steed is presented when we first see him.
